The American Blue was first standardized in the early 20th century in southern California and first exhibited in 1917. American Fuzzy Lops were derived on the West Coast United States from the breeding between two Holland Lopseach carrying the recessive wool gene. These small lop-eared rabbits have thick wool on their bodies like that of an Angora. The breed is relatively new, having been recognized by the ARBA in 1988.
