No-kill Shelters are a type of animal shelter with an anti-euthanasia policy for the animals they house. The most widely accepted definition of a no-kill shelter is a place where all adoptable and treatable animals are saved and where only unadoptable or non-rehabilitatable animals are euthanized. Humane societies and SPCAs often euthanize pets because they cannot find homes for them. Each year an estimated 25.5 million puppies and kittens are born (70,000 a day). Of these, six to ten million end up being euthanized. You can find no-kill animal shelters and rescues by clicking here.
