It's Take Your Pet to Work Day!

If your boss will buy the recent  national survey conducted by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, your performance will improve if you take your pet to work with you. The study revealed that having a pet at work created a more productive environment in 73 percent of the companies that participated, as well as a decreased absenteeism rate. The companies that were surveyed allowed dogs, cats, fish, small animals, reptiles and birds in the workplace. The survey also revealed health benefits such as reduced blood pressure, lowered stress levels and improved physical and emotional health. All companies involved (100 percent) agreed that pets at work calm employees. For 96 percent of the participating companies, pets in the office produced positive work relations and almost 58 percent of the employees were willing to work longer hours. Why pets at work? Companies want good employees and the answer isn’t always money. There is a growing respect for the “human-animal bond” and a more relaxed atmosphere on the job. Often skilled employees get their way. This means that bringing fluffy into the office allows quality time with the pet, even though they are away from home.
