I have dog with swollen red paw pads which are obviously uncomfortable as he constantly licks, top and bottom. Both front and back paws are affected. The pads have started to split. The skin on the top of the paw, amongst the hair, is also red, and her abdomen too. Whether this is from the constant licking I am not sure. Does anybody know what it is and what I can do to cure it? Please hurry.

Swollen paws can occur from different causes, Soft tissue swelling could mean a few things: insect bite or sting, infection, abscess, or blunt tissue damage.<br /><br />Of course the best solution to your dog's painful foot is to see the vet.<br /><br />To control pain and inflammation, it's usually safe to give your dog an aspirin. To reduce stomach irritation, use buffered aspirin and give aspirin at mealtime.<br /><br />Most veterinarians recommend a dose for 60 to 80 lb dog of one tablet twice a day (every 12 hours) or 1/2 tablet three times a day (every eight hours). A 30 to 40 lb dog gets half as much.<br /><br />Enteric coated aspirin is not recommended in dogs because about half the time the coating isn't digested and the aspirin is excreted whole in the stool. You should not give your dog such products as Tylenol as a substitute for real aspirin.<br /><br />You shouldn't medicate your dog before seeing your vet. You don't want to mask any symptoms.<br /><br />A cool compress gently applies to the injured paw can also help reduce the pain swelling as well.

hi there. very common thing they probably stink like potato chips or smelly feet right? i have a very effective trick for you. i believe it is a yeast build up and trust me i have saved hundreds of people lots of money w/ this one! your dog could have a sensitivity to grass, which makes em very itchy, then they lick their paws and grow yeast from the combo what you can do and it takes consistency is take a wash cloth and wipe their feet when you come in from outside and once a day until the ick is gone dip the paws in a 75 to 25 apple cider vinegar(75) and water(25) solution it has to be apple cider not blasamic tasty but wont kill the bacteria. dont dry them let it dry naturally cause that helps kill it when the vinegar dries you wont smell it and trust me this works well. you can use different strengths for full body dips ears and soo on. great for old stinky cocker spaniels!
