Labrador Retriever (Black Lab,Chocolate Lab, Yellow / Golden Lab and Red Lab) The most popular breed dog, Labrador Retiever is known as 'Labrador or 'Lab' for short. The Labrador Retriever is an intelligent, energetic, good natured and affable dog. With these characteristics makes the Labrador a good companion and working dog. Labrador Retrievers respond well to praise and positive attention. They are also well known as enjoying water, since historically, they were selectively bred for retrieving in water environments as "gun dogs" and as companions in waterfowl hunting. This also gave them time to bond with their owner, which leads to them having a good temper.
