Hi,<br />I am new to this website. I stumbled on it looking for information on taming a ferrell. I lost my siamese mix after 18 years and about a week later, found some websites where siamese mix cats and kittens were rescued and up for adoption. To make a long story short, I am the owner of two new cats. The two that I found were seal point mixes and they had been spayed and neutered. They had also been tested for FIV and were negative. They are about 14-15 months old. I have had them for 17 days. The place that I adopted them from was a little disappointing. I don't know what I expected from a rescue, but when I got there, the house was terrible. There were several animals in there. Dogs, cats, etc. I feel like I rescued them from the rescue. I made my trip to pet smart, separate bowls, separate boxes, everything. My one night adoption wound up costing me over 500 dollars. Since I really didn't feel good about the place I got them from, I took them in to my vet the next day. My vet did blood work, urine, the whole nine. After another 500 dollars, I found out what I pretty much knew......fleas, ear mites, etc, but all blood work came back okay exept a little intestinal bug in my little girl. After all meds, worming, new vaccines, etc., I brought them home. I went ahead and let them out. My house is not "that" big. I have a three bedroom 2 bath house, about 1900 square feet. I closed off my two extra bedrooms and let them go. I showed them their litter box, food bowl, etc. The little girl........doing great. Could easily be a lap baby. The male....very skiddish. He has laid in the chair with me (with her), he also got some meds for an upper respirartory infection and I managed to get his antibiotics in him, but he is still skiddish. Is there something else I can do. He is "warming" up, but he is still very unsure. I know I have to be patient, but the little girl just did so well. When she's around, he is more trusting, but when she is in another room or not around, he is so unsure. He is eating fine, using the box fine, plays with toys and chases the laser light; he just doesn't act like he wants to socialize. This is my first time with adopting ferrells, so I have NO experience with that. I did however have my other siamese mix for 18 years and I am very well educated to the feline (just not a ferrell feline). Does anyone have any tips on anything that I can do to help socialize my little man? <br />Thanks :?:
